(TAL071) Jeremy P. Caulfield

Lost among the ocean of boring labels which persist in putting out as irrelevant music as possible, there is one that actually never ceased to amaze me with the continuous quality of its releases since its creation twelve years ago. I’m talking about Dumb-Unit, founded in the spring of 2000 by Canadian DJ and producer Jeremy P. Caulfield, and which became a necessary stop for every techno artist worthy of the name. Throughout its existence, Dumb-Unit has helped revealing several producers from very different backgrounds such as Jake Fairley, Giorgio Gigli, Cesare vs Disorder and more recently Avatism, whose career seems to finally take off since his Perseverance EP released last October. Jeremy P. Caulfield can smell talent, as shown by the impressive discography of his label where bad taste isn’t allowed. Caulfield also has a few own releases under his belt, and has just put out a new pretty cool collaborative EP with Cesare vs Disorder, on Dumb-Unit of course.

For his podcast Jeremy sent us this very club-friendly mix composed of a dozen killer tracks that summarize well what Dumb-Unit does the best: it has bass, it’s dark and it has a lot of Avatism stuff in it, just enough and nothing more.
